Feast on the Living Christ

Posted on April 23, 2019December 30, 2020

I received good news. I passed the ServSafe class that I took recently. The class provides certification on food service safety. The material covered safety throughout the entire flow of food process, from purchasing to serving.

Including second guessing whether I want to eat out anymore, the class impacted me in another way. Let me tell you what I mean. Sections of the class focused on personal hygiene. Makes sense right. No fingers in the food. Wash hands after using the restroom. Protect food from being contaminated by sneezing, fingernails, open wounds etc. All the things you’d expect. If not controlled, these natural things can cause food borne illnesses endangering many, especially the young and elderly.

What struck me was this — our bodies are always shedding “things” that should someone eat it could lead to sickness and possibly death. It’s natural for the body to shed and give off particles but there’s no life in those particles, only corruption. They’re not meant to be eaten.

But with Christ, there is no corruption – only life. At Christmas we celebrate his life that was born without the touch of corrupting man. At Easter, we celebrate that He won out over death’s corruption and now shares his everlasting life with us. It’s not just safe to partake of his flesh (and drink of his blood), its actually life giving. Apart from Christ, all that we have to offer each other is decay. Christ as our life giver and sustainer allows us to overflow life to others. (John 7:38) Let us all – feast on!

Have I Got A Word For You… Munificence!

The Lord blesses me with so many things: adoption into His family, good health, resources, a loving family and friends who laugh at my jokes and can make me laugh. Even so, I know much of what He has given, I don’t fully comprehend. Some of the words the Bible uses to describe the Lord’s giving are “lavished”, “freely” “generously” and “abundantly”

Recommended by Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth, I was reading The Incomparable Christ by J. Oswald Sanders and came across a word that puts the openness of His giving into a nut shell – if that can even be done. MUNIFICENCE: willing to give and share unstintingly, bountiful, liberal, lavishly generous; great generosity

Don’t you just love it! The word sounds just like the meaning. The Lord’s gifts are not only magnificent (splendid or impressive in appearance, exalted; outstanding of its kind; excellent); they are also munificent.

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that He lavished on us. (Ephesians 1:8)

Please, don’t get me started on “lavished”!!

There’s nothing like a good word or song to encourage us. The link below is to Andrae Crouch’s classic: We Need A Word from You. Take a listen.

We Need a Word From You by Andrae Crouch

Let’s Encourage Each Other

Sing A New (or old) Song

My prayer is that something on the website (the words or perhaps a link to a song) is an encouragement. I'll be honest - songs are such an encouragement to me. Through songs the Lord shows Himself faithful. I've heard that phrase much of my life. But the meaning is unfolding to me. Like an accordion, the meaning is unraveling as I've never imagined before. Is that happening for you too?

The steadfast love of the Lord is never ceases. His mercies never come to an end; they are NEW every morning.
(Lamentations 3:22)
Considering that, I want to sing a NEW song to Him. (Psalm 96:1)
Old or new, He's deserving of our songs and our daily praise: YOMPRAISE!

Don't you agree? I'd love to hear from you - whoever you are. If you'd like to leave a comment, please do.
